Myall Creek Massacre

The Myall Creek massacre is still; to this day, regarded as one of the close to heinous inhumane criminal acts to take place on this land. The massacre was the single act of inhumanity that united the colonists and the autochthonous people under British protection whilst highlighting the penury for a unified justice system. Thirty black men, women and children; maliciously massacred by a group of white-hot prisoners with no fervor at all. The severity of these crimes were so heinous, when trialled, the law of God was called upon to sort out over swift justice to all those involved. Those who were involved in the criminal prosecution of the prisoners (especially Sir William Westbrooke Burton) soon established that; there were evoke issues that needed to be addressed in light of the atrocities directly being judged, and that it was time to deal with the new realities of conflict straightway evident amongst the settlers and Aboriginals. Aboriginals were targeting the white settlers livestock and land whilst the white settlers were targeting groups of indigenous men and women in retaliation. The reality of the conflict between the settlers world and the indigenous population was never truly realised until the have actions of both parties culminated in the slaughtering of thirty indigenous men, women and children. The outcome of such actions not only caused the British government to re-evaluate its policies when dealing with crimes against Aboriginals, merely to also re-define the British justice system as a protector to all those under it.
